Filipino Survival Phrases Lesson 47 - Explaining allergies in Filipino.
In today's lesson, we'll cover a phrase that will prove invaluable for those of you're allergic to something. Letting other people know about your allergies is vital to a fun and healthy trip. In today's phrase, we'll go over "I'm allergic to something."
To start, we'll need something that we're allergic to. In some cases, allergies to peanuts can be extremely dangerous so let's start there.
In Filipino, "I am allergic to peanuts" is Allergic ako sa mani.
Allergic ako sa mani.
Let's break it down by syllable: Allergic ako sa mani.
Now, let's hear it once again: Allergic ako sa mani.
The first word "allergic" doesn't have a Filipino translation.
The second word Ako means "me" or "I."
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Ako.
And, Ako.
This is followed by Sa, which in English is "to."
Sa.
Sa.
And, Sa.
Followed by Mani, which in English means "peanuts."
Let’s break down this word and hear it one more time: Mani.
And, Mani.
So to recap here, we have Allergic ako sa mani, which means "I'm allergic to peanuts."
Now, let's go over some other common allergies. Let's try "shrimp."
In Filipino "I am allergic to shrimp" is Allergic ako sa hipon.
Allergic ako sa hipon.
Let's break it down by syllable: Allergic ako sa hipon.
Now, let's hear it once again: Allergic ako sa hipon.
Notice the only thing that changes here is Hipon, the rest is the same.
Hipon.
Hipon.
And, Hipon.
Now, let's go over "I'm allergic to milk." In Filipino, Allergic ako sa gatas.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Allergic ako sa gatas.
Again, the only thing that changes here is the word Gatas which means "milk."
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Gatas.
And, Gatas.
If you are allergic with eggs, just simply replace the word with "eggs." In Filipino, "eggs" is Itlog. "I'm allergic to eggs" in Filipino is Allergic ako sa itlog.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Allergic ako sa itlog.
And, Allergic ako sa itlog.
If you are allergic to crabs simply substitute with the word. "Crab" in Filipino is Alimasag.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Alimasag.
And, Alimasag.
If you are allergic to fish, "fish" in Filipino is Isda.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: Isda.
And, Isda.
In Filipino, "I am having an allergic reaction" is Inaallergy ako.
Inaallergy ako.
Let's break it down by syllable: Inaallergy ako.

In an instance that the allergy has occurred and you are in need of an anti-allergy medicine this phrase will help you: "Do you have an anti-allergy?" In Filipino, Mayroon ka bang anti-allergy?
Let's break down this phrase by syllable: Mayroon ka bang anti-allergy?
