Hi cecep,

Ang is the/a/an

Ng means of

Mga denotes the plural form of the word it preceeds

For example:

Ang kabayo (the horse)

Ng bata (of [the] child)

Mga bata (children)

Ang kabayo ng mga bata ay kulay itim.

The horse of the children is color black.

Salamat!

Hi Joe!

That's really interesting to point out! :) The verb magsipilyo comes from the root word sipilyo which is the noun for toothbrush. On the other hand, the verb for brushing the hair is magsuklay which comes from the root word suklay which is the noun for comb. :)

So, the verb is derived from noun (instrument used to perform the action). :)

NOUN (Instrument) - VERB

sipilyo - magsipilyo : toothbrush - to brush teeth

suklay - magsuklay : comb - to comb hair/to brush hair

I hope that helped! :D

magsipilyo I learned is NOT used when one is brushing hair (sipilyuhin buhok). OK, teeth are cleaned in a way a lil different than hair is straightened. But is brush precisely the right word? does it come from some root or cultural thing I am unaware of?

sipilyo I understand is the root of magsipilyo - brush teeth and sipilyuhin buhok brush hair

I realize it makes little sense in English to use the same word for what we do with hair and teeth.

Love to figure how this works! any insights are welcome!!

Hi Parker!

Walang direktang salin ang salitang "routine" pero madalas na gamitin ay "karaniwang gawain" o kaya ay hinihiram ng buo ang salitang "routine."

Napakahusay mo naman na mag-aral ng mga lengguwahe! Nakakabilib ka dahil hindi lang Tagalog ang inaaral mo, kundi pati Nippongo. :)

Hindi ba't talagang masaya mag-aral ng bagong lengguwahe? :)

Salamat sa iyong komento!
