Why is "it" in "gusto ko yan" yan, but in "Hindi ko gusto ito", ito now means "it"?

Hi Dom,

Depending on the inflection as well as context, the word "galing" can mean awesome or great.

Ex:

Ang galing mo! - You were great!

Galing ako sa bahay. - I came from home.

Salamat!

I thought galing meant "to come from". It says so in audio lesson 8 of absolute begining.

Hello Lisa Knox,

Thatโ€™s wonderful. See the translations below:

Uumpisahan ko nang linisin ang ngipin mo. Ok lang ba?

May sumasakit ba sa bibig mo?

Sabihin mo saโ€™kin kung may masakit.

I hope everything works out well for you. I believe they will greatly appreciate you trying to speak to them in Filipino.

Good luck!

I will be traveling to Antipolo on a mission trip in 42 days. I've learned a lot from this site, but have a long way go! Some phrases I will need to say are:

I am going to clean your teeth now. Is that okay ?

Does anything hurt in your mouth?

Please tell me if anything hurts .

I really want people to feel as comfortable as possible. And having less of a language barrier, I believe, makes a huge difference.

Thanks so much!

Lisa
