Hi Paul,

That's a great question. Talaga is used for both and yes its meaning depends on the intonation of its delivery that's why practice is key! Salamat.

Can you please clarify the following:

Really? - when used to express excitement

Really? - when used to express doubt

Do you use the same word โ€œTalagaโ€ except the tone and expression are different?

Salamat po

Galing o magaling?

Is galing short for magaling? How can you tell the difference phonetically between GAling and gaLING from the writing?

Hello Craig! It is short for magaling when you mean "awesome!"

When you mean "coming from or came from" and use the short "galing" it would come from the original longer word "nanggaling".

So two words spelled the same when shortened, but mean differently. Context will always determine the difference.

Hope that helps!

Hi Craig!

Great questions! The difference between GAling and gaLING when written can only be determined through the context it's written in.

Salamat Craig!

Hi Craig,

Regarding downloading, I am not sure which phone you are using and if it has an app which helps with downloading or not. But if you can open the vocabulary list on your phone, maybe you can copy and paste it to a Note or to an email draft and open it whenever you want to? Let us know how it goes!

Cheers,

Khanh
