Filipino Survival Phrases Lesson 36 - Using the Post Office in the Philippines, part 2.
Today, we're going to work on getting your package one step closer to its intended destination. In a previous lesson, we discussed the phrase, "I would like to send this package to New York," which was Gusto ko ipadala ito sa New York.
Gusto ko ipadala ito sa New York.
Let's break it down by syllalble: Gusto ko ipadala ito sa New York.
Again, the location is interchangeable. When sending a package though, you're going to have to explain what's in the package. You may even be asked, "What's in the package?" which in Filipino is Ano ang laman?
Ano ang laman?
Let's break it down by syllable: Ano ang laman?
Let's hear it once again: Ano ang laman?
The first word Ano means "what."
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Ano.
And, Ano.
This is followed by Ang, which in English is "the."
Ang.
Ang.
And, Ang.
Then followed by Laman, which means "content."
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Laman.
And, Laman.
So, to recap here, we have Ano ang laman? This means "What is the content?"
There may be times when you need to be asked, "How long would you like the package to get there?" Which in Filpino is Gaano katagal ang gusto mo? This could be answered if you want "three days," you may say Tatlong araw. Or if you want to say "one week," you may say Isang linggo.
